This day in my life…….just a little over 26 hours with four very distinguished visitors to our Air Force Base….our Chief of Staff, General Mark Welsh and his wife, Betty, and our Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, Chief Jim Cody and his wife, Athena. One day to give them a quick overview about life in the 2nd Bomb Wing, 8th Air Force and Global Strike Command.
One day in which to introduce them to our community leaders, the people who enhance the lives of the military families who live in the community that surrounds our base.
One day to connect them with our airmen and to allow our airmen to get a personal glimpse of our very top senior leaders. A day for General Welsh and the Chief to look them in the eye and ask them about their jobs and their families. One day to spread the message that in this life of service, in which we are separated so often from our blood related families, that we are responsible to each other, as a military family. One day to emphasize that the word “wingman” should be taken seriously in all aspects of our lives. We are not on this earth or in this Air Force as solitary people.
One very important day.
An inspiring day among the heroes of our country. There was a time I thought of being an airforce nurse but fate led me to a different road. Thanks for sharing this wonderful post.
