Life is full of contrasts.
Usually they come on gradually and we’re eased into the change. The middle parts sooth the jarring juxtapositions from one season to the next, from being newlyweds to celebrating milestone anniversaries, from one’s first steps to turning gray. Time builds upon itself and as each day goes from sunrise to sunset, change, when it is benevolent, slips up next to us, tapping us gently on the shoulder rather than surprising us with its suddenness.
This is the passage of time without the middle, making it a study in contrast.
Yikes, some contrasts are easier to look at than others.
