In this city of hallowed memorials to our fallen it’s hard not to be struck by the human impact of war.
These names illustrate humanity at its best. When we stop to read the names engraved on those memorials and gravesides we realize that each of these individuals sacrificed everything they had in order to defend someone else’s freedom, giving completely of themselves for the sake of fellow human beings.
None of which would be necessary if humanity, at its worst, had not caused a reason for those wars in the first place.
