I didn’t get atop anything this past week but I did do a lot of looking up and in one instance even though I was looking down, I found something that was topping an adorable little head so I’m pretty sure that counts!
First up is a serious of rose sculptures that grace the riverfront in my new town. They sit atop concrete bases which sit atop the Red River here in Shreveport and they never fail to draw me in. When paired with a beautiful cloud-filled sky they are exquisite.
I’m a big fan of public art and this piece never fails to transform the environment it lives in, beautifully echoing the industrial elements of the railroad trestle while it simultaneously adds an organic element to the skyline.
And then there was this little guy, trying to wait patiently for his daddy to deplane after a long deployment to the dessert. His dad commands a squadron known as the Red Devils so it was only appropriate that these horns sat atop his curly head while he waited for that first hug. And then, well, what better place for those horns to be than atop that head he waited so long to see again? The “awwww” factor is just too much!
