I spent last week in Chicago. It was cold, raining, and the city was dense with fog for most of the week.
But it was also dense with people, energy, color and line in the best of ways. Being there in the middle of all that was a stark contrast to the small southern town I’ve recently started calling home.
Today I’m grateful the world is made up of many different places and I have the opportunity to travel.
It’s a dense world we live in but in the best sense of the word.
Ultimately I want my life to be dense with experience and exploring Chicago, even during a decidedly unfriendly weather week, is an experience I enjoyed.
Oh, and I’m also grateful that Garrett’s popcorn mix exists in this world. Who knew the unusual combination of caramel and cheese popcorn could be so amazing?!?
The old Marshall Fields building is one of my favorite Chicago landmarks. I always feel that Chicago is one of the best cities to explore on your own – so much to do, see, and eat!

Next time I’ll be more deliberate in my looking, this time I just sort of drifted and honestly, kept getting lost. My GPS on my phone was pretty confused much of the time!

When the day is gray, look for color… I love all the color you found – both indoors and out!
