When I travel I can’t help but spend some time thinking about how I fit into the world. Being out of my normal environment reminds me that the world is huge and when I think of myself in that context I can’t help but think that in the grand scale of things, I am but one person among billions.
A dot in a grand landscape.
Until I get out my Instagrams and offer them to the strangers I meet along the way, explaining that I post one picture every day and then keep a stack of them to give away, my small way of connecting with the world and sharing what I see.
These travelers consented to look through them and select one to keep when I was in the airport in Colorado Springs last week. One woman in particular was overly thankful, surprised at receiving a small gift quite unexpectedly, in the midst of a travel day.
That reaction was all I needed to be reminded that although yes, I am just one person, I can touch another life and make a difference. I’m not saving the world, mind you, but one never knows when the kindness of a complete stranger can turn a day around.
Even if it’s just with a picture.
You definitely do know how to capture life’s beauty through your photos. I feel blessed to benefit from your gift.

As a recipient of one of your works of art, I can say it not only made my day, but days, weeks and now months because I look at it so often and think of you. Really glad to have crossed paths with you and am hoping for more.
Great shots for today’s post. Perfect For “Scale”!
