This title of this blog post makes me smile. My father, ever the master punster, would heartily approve. I’m sure he’s grinning from his eternal resting place.
I visited a sheep ranch in South Dakota yesterday and if there ever was a more enjoyable interpretation of variation, I’m not sure what it would be!
These faces! They just couldn’t be any cuter, each animal full of it’s own personality, and each one a variation on the theme.
Many thanks to Carla, who not only lives on this gorgeous property and gets to see these beautiful creatures every day but who is also the studio manager at one of my very favorite places, The Suzie Cappa Art Center in Rapid City.
Carla will probably be amused as I’m more than certain that I’ve completely glamorized her life here in my imagination. After all, she did impart experiences of late night births and all the care and feeding that goes into raising sheep, not to mention the smell that comes with it.
But, oh, what a wonderful hour it was that I spent here on her property.
As a bonus, I was gifted a large bag of raw wool. I’ve been learning felting lately so that particular aspect of my life has come full circle.
It’s always an added bonus when the dots connect in such wonderful ways.
Great shots!
