Traveling…..sleeping in three very different cities….flying….driving….three time zones in two weeks….days that start with 5 a.m. sunrises and end with 10 p.m. sunsets….it all causes a person to see life in new ways.
As humans, we spend a lot of time figuratively looking back and looking forward. This week’s photo challenge reminded me to just be in the moment and concentrate on literally looking up.
Here’s some of what I saw from below this past week in the states of Michigan and Washington.
On the subject of looking up….tonight, when I’m standing below the fireworks I do believe I’ll turn my thoughts upward and say a prayer of thankfulness for the people who had the foresight to establish the country I live in and those who work tirelessly to ensure my freedoms.
I think it’s no accident that we celebrate the Fourth of July with bursts of light and immense beauty in the skies above our nation, causing us to turn our eyes upward as the day ends.
I like these photos a lot, the way you choose how to view your surroundings, the angles, perspectives, relationships between objects.

I love “just be in the moment and concentrate on literally looking up.” I agree that we sometimes don’t take the time to just be and see what is around (or above) us. Love all of these photos. The angle on the spiral stairs is perfection. Thanks for joining the challenge!
