Our lives are made up of the accumulation of seconds, evanescent moments of time that flit through space, most of them lost before we even think to remember them.
This particular moment though, shared among good friends on a driveway in Virginia on a Halloween night, will forever be remembered. It was a standout sharing of the kind of evenings we knew would soon end, as moving vans would inevitably dot our personal landscapes in the months to come.
While we would probably have remembered it fondly without the photo, I can’t help but think this image etches it in our hearts a bit more permanently.
This is why I look for the photo each and every day.
So the moments won’t be lost among the hours, the days, the years.
