This Particular Monochromatic Life

This ship.

At the height of WWII there were 2300 men living on it in very close quarters, for months and months on end.

From what I saw today, it would have been a very monochromatic life….

of silver….

of off-white….

and of course, of battleship gray….

Were it not for the occasional glimpse of a sunrise or sunset above deck or the occasional “pop” of red, a sailor might very well think the world had been washed clean of color.

Except for this reminder and what it represents….the reason they all went war in the first place.

Wow. You had a field day with this one. I recognize a lot of these shots only because our tour of the battleship Missouri (63 painted on the side) at Pearl Harbor. I loved it, but some of those spaces were pretty small for a huge ship.
