There are lessons to be learned from water, specifically hurricanes and droughts.
Something that is life-giving and necessary for existence can easily become destructive when it gets out of balance. Too much or too little and that which we usually welcome we start to fear.
We feel helpless because we can’t control, we can only react.
Those who have been in the path of recent hurricanes have undoubtedly gained a new respect for water.
Those in the path of devastating fires in the west likewise have a new understanding of what too little of it means.
They can only do their best to stay safe, protect those they love, and pick up the pieces afterwards.
I believe all of this is also true of love.
In my life, during those times when I have no control, I can only trust in a God who carries me when I cannot walk alone. He has a plan. Placing my trust in Him is my “job” (and I say that because it’s something I truly have to work at) and my obligation.
I also have to spend some time on my knees.

Watching the destruction in the Carolinas has been heartbreaking, as it always is when a hurricane comes through and hits so hard. I remember feeling this way for Puerto Rico. We are in the middle of all of those fires in the west, and I am heartily sick of the smell of smoke, but it looks like we won’t be getting any natural relief any time soon. No rain in the forecast for the rest of the month for now. Thank you for your beautiful photos. And thanks for joining the challenge!

I’ve been through too many hurricanes and “YES” thaey have the control when they rear their ugly heads! We can’t control everything in our lives and it’s so hard to have trust that God’s “GOT IT” It’s a constant battle for me. You say it well Julie!!!
