With this definition lurking in the back of my mind…..

refraction: the fact or phenomena of light being passed obliquely through the interface between one medium and another or through a medium of varying density

…..I went to lunch on the dog-friendly patio of J’s on Jackson Street,

and the simple act of drinking water turned a dry and somewhat obscure definition into a new way of seeing.
