A lock is certainly an outward symbol of security.
But when I reflect on what makes me feel secure in my life it isn’t about locks with keys that have been tossed into a river so the lock cannot easily be broken, it’s about these things which form my foundation: my marriage, my faith, my country, a faithful four-legged companion who is always there on the other side of the door, and sunrises that keep happening, despite the events of the day before.
During this Holy Week I am ever more aware of the blessings in my life.
And praying for those whose foundations have been shaken for whatever reason.
Especially today as our family remembers a young man who left us much too soon one year ago.
