This ship.
At the height of WWII there were 2300 men living on it in very close quarters, for months and months on end.
From what I saw today, it would have been a very monochromatic life….
of silver….
of off-white….
and of course, of battleship gray….
Were it not for the occasional glimpse of a sunrise or sunset above deck or the occasional “pop” of red, a sailor might very well think the world had been washed clean of color.
Except for this reminder and what it represents….the reason they all went war in the first place.
